About us

 Leichhardt House Student Hostel (the Hostel) opened in 1995 to support isolated families in the Western Downs region of Southern Queensland by facilitating their children's attendance at a mainstream school. This is accomplished through the provision of high-quality physical facilities and the employment of qualified and experienced professionals.

The hostel is Governed by the Chinchilla Student Accommodation Association Inc (CSAA). 

The CSAA is responsible for business management of the hostel. The 2025 Management Committee is: President - Lisa Shannon (Parent), Vice President - Rob Burke (CSHS Principal), Secretary - Kelly Waddell (Parent) and Treasurer - Christine Nelson (Parent). Quarterly meetings are held and parents/carers are invited to attend and contribute, along with school and council representatives.

Kim and Gavin Woods are our current house parents, they commenced in Term 1, 2024. 

We are fortunate to have kind and caring people on board to provide for the students needs.
